Journal entry by Josh Beck —
We have purposely waited a bit to post this to be sure, but the doctors said as of his August 6th CT scan that Joey is officially in remission! They did one more round of chemo the week of Aug 8-15, but have confirmed through another CT scan as of last night that they see no signs of regrowth!!!!
Joey is back to school (only missed a week instead of the months we were anticipating), is re-growing his hair and becoming a regular kid again after a long summer of being in and out of the hospital. He still gets a little tired from all the daily activity, but is getting better every day.
I want to say a special thank you to all of our family, friends, classmates and coworkers for all the support you have given our family through all of this. Your prayers, support, cards, visits and kind words mean so much to all of us. I don't know how we could have honestly made it through any of this without our faith and our support base both around us and from far away.
I am constantly brought back to the second day in the hospital. Jessie and I took a walk to both get out of the room for a minute and head to the cafe. On the way, we stopped by the chapel and prayed together for Joey and for God to take over and guide us through this. I decided then, I was not going to worry about the unknowns and would be there for my family and had faith that it would work out, and to this point it has. He has provided for us through our friends, the doctors and nurses, medicines, families and acquaintances and we are eternally grateful.
