Joe’s Story

Site created on December 30, 2011

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Good news is this site has been dormant since 2012. Bad news is that we find the need to resurrect it. We’ve done a lot of living since his bleeding crisis on December 26, 2011. Oddly enough we found ourself back at Maine Medical Center exactly on December 26 this year. We had come north to celebrate Christmas at our beloved Wonalancet Farm but found Joe needed some help. This time it is not Joe’s cancer but sadly his heart that brought us back into the hospital. The chemotherapy that he used so effectively so that he could see our kids grow in to four amazing adults has caught up with him. He is dealing with end stage heart failure. Feel free to pass the link to anyone you know that might want to stay in touch with how Joe is doing.

Much love,

Elonide, Jamie, Shelby, Eleanor (aka Nellie) and Ben

Newest Update

Journal entry by Elonide Semmes

On this first anniversary of Joe leaving this earth, we wanted to thank everyone for their support and love during his long illness and this past year as we grieved more alone than we desired. Finally, we feel that we can hold a memorial service. We will have two — one at the farm and one in New Orleans. Dates are set but details still being worked out and we will post everything at the following website.https://www.joesemmes.memorial/

Much love,

Elonide, Jamie, Shelby, Nellie and Ben
