Newest Update

Journal entry by Shama Chaiken

I imagine you all could use a bit of good news right now...and I have some for you! Joel has been deemed well enough to be discharged this week from the Post-Acute Care facility! He will be staying with his sister Julie for this next chapter of his recovery. Joel continues to work hard to regain strength, coordination and balance, and to restore large and small motor skills.

Your continued love and support have been invaluable to Joel. Please know that your donations to his GoFundMe are helping him to cover medical copays, medical equipment, as well as changes to Julie's home and Joel's apartment so he can navigate those environments safely. It will be a while before he can start to think about the possibility of returning to gainful employment...so ongoing donations for living expenses will be deeply appreciated.

Joel and Julie will welcome visitors beginning on Sunday, 10/15. If you would like to visit Joel, feel free to contact Naomi Tucker by texting 510-502-0632 or emailing naomi@shalom-bayit.org.
