Welcome to Joel’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportHello friends and family!
I awoke this Christmas Eve reflecting on our year and felt compelled to write an update on our family.
First and foremost, Kevin and Hailey became engaged and are getting married in March of 2024. We are thrilled to welcome Hailey to our family and know that Joel is smiling from above.
Grace finished her year of service with Americorps and will be attending Duke University in the fall for their Physician Assistant program on the condition of that she not become a “Cameron Crazy”. She ran the Boston Marathon in April and is training for another in 2024. She and her boyfriend Trevor spent 5 months working remotely and pet sitting across America visiting 29 states and 20 national parks.
Tom moved into his own apartment in DC and is still working in consulting for Appian. He continues playing rugby locally, enjoying urban life in DC and still finds time to keep his old mama company.
In addition to spending time in my garden with dogs Ruby and Rory, I am blessed with many friends, both old and new, who also keep me entertained and busy. I have regular yoga classes, pickleball games, book club and widow support group. I got back on skis for the first time in 15 years and rode a horse a few times managing to not break any bones!
I knocked several more places off our bucket list this year including Antarctica, Mackinac Island, and the Camino de Santiago in Spain. I even made it back to the big Island of Hawaii where Joel and I naively went in 1996 with a toddler in tow, vowing to return one day.
So life marches onward. It is not the life that we expected to be living; grief does rear its ugly head unexpectedly and often, but it is still a pretty great life.
Wishing you all a blessed and healthy holiday season and 2024 with much love from Ann & family
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together…there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is,even if we’re apart…I’ll always be with you.”
