Journal entry by Jay Willard —
Precious family and friends,
This is Jodi bringing a long-overdue update regarding my health since my recent “visit” to the hospital ICU. It’s been a tough road of in-home physical therapy, occupational therapy, and numerous rounds of medications, but I am on the road to recovery, albeit lengthy. I was shocked at how weak I was upon arriving home but with the therapies, I have gained enough strength to go from using a walker, to a cane to climbing the stairs. It may not look pretty, but I am persevering. I am still required to be on oxygen but feel it’s more for healing than for necessity. My voice is still recovering and Jay teases about sounding like Winnie the Pooh! I still don’t have a definitive diagnosis or long-term prognosis for my lungs, but that will hopefully come in time with continued treatment and a possible biopsy. I am still unable to venture outside of home except for doctor’s visits and the occasional gathering with immediate family. I spend most of my days at home resting and recovering. Each day The Lord reminds me of some new milestone that I have accomplished, and it gives me renewed hope. God has been SO good to us! Please continue to pray for healing, strength, peace, and wisdom for us and our caregivers as we navigate the unknown.
