JoAn fell and broke her hip on 11/12/20 and suffered from congestive heart failure. She arrived at Taylor Hospice House on 11/16/20 and passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at 7:12 a.m.  //// DECEMBER 20 at 8:40 AM: The Des Moines Zen Center will hold a special service in remembrance of JoAn on Sunday, December 20 beginning at 8:40 AM (following the Center’s normal Sunday morning meditation period). The service will be held virtually via Zoom. Details at: www.dmzencenter.org/virtual-practice/. All will be invited to share personal reflections, memories, and stories of their time with JoAn.  //// For family members and the adventurous, an outdoor solstice sendoff will happen on Sunday, 12/20/20 from 3:30-6:00pm on The Spain Family Farm: 3935 Ford Street, Norwalk, Iowa.

Visitation Update: Zen Center Change

Due to Covid risks the Des Moines Zen Center updated its services for JoAn. They will now hold a special service in remembrance of JoAn on Sunday, December 20 beginning at 8:40 AM (following the Center’s normal Sunday morning meditation period).
