Joanna’s Story

Site created on November 1, 2019

Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I will beusing it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
My kidney cancer that started in November 2017 has chosen to reappear in my left lung. just got the confirmation today. This following week I will keep busy talking to Oncologists and thoracic surgeons to decide the next steps. Yes I am scared, and unsettled. I am going to do the mechanics of this like scheduling, resting and absorbing the love around me that I am so blessed to have. the rest is in God's hands. He will guide me and my medical team. My faith in Him is strong and I know things will progress as He steers me through the path ahead.
This will be the place to look for details of my progress. I know I will be chatting with some of you often. However this wonderful web site can get information to all that want to know. I will have some others posting info for me when neccessary.
Next post will be the end of next week when I have a more concrete plan.
Love, Joanna

Newest Update

Journal entry by Joanna Cowan

Hi all,

This is Kelly updating for Joanna.   She is in recovery after her surgery this morning.  After great uneventful  updates throughout...her surgeon came out and let us know that everything went exactly as expected.  They removed the pie section of the lower lobe  which removed the nodule and surrounding tissue which was negative.  All good news!  Doc thinks she should be able to head home tomorrow.

Thanks for all the prayers and keep 'em coming!
