Journal entry by Chloe Cahill-Durant

As his extended family, we are here to support Eloise and Chris & Michelle, and each other.  I received a text from my brother, David, on Monday

"Eloise asked me to fill you in on Slater because he’s too weak to talk much right now.  He has aggressive bone cancer his pelvis/sacrum area.  He is now using a walker, has lost feeling in one leg and lost control of his lower body as of about a week ago.  The cancer is also leaving him in constant pain so he is heavily medicated.

Slater had a port installed and had his first chemo treatment last Wednesday.  They hope the chemo will provide some pain relief, but it is not supposed to be a cure.  Right now he is dealing with nausea and some other side effects from the treatment.   Doctors will evaluate progress after 90 days.

It’s a lot to comprehend…he was seemingly in perfect health 2 months ago.  Send lots of good thoughts to them.
