Thank you for being here today to celebrate Jim’s life.  In 60 years he touched more lives than most of us could dream of.  He lived life to the fullest.

On behalf of Sherri, Adam, Brad & Leah, I want to thank each and everyone of you.  I can’t begin to name names, because the out pouring of love and support has been incredible over the last two years.

In Matthew 25:40 Jesus said in His parable, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.

You guys made us feel God’s love.

Thank you for your prayers.

Thank you for visits and walks.

Thank you for cards, texts, emails and calls with words of encouragement.

Thank you for meals, groceries, drinks and filling the candy bowl.

Thank you for a parade.

Thank you for driving Jim to therapy and treatment.

Thank you for flowers.

Thank you for nights on the porch.

Thank you for making Jim laugh and smile along side us.

Thank you for help with house projects.

Thank you for throwing a shop party.

Thank you for making an unforgettable anniversary celebration.

Thank you for fun movie nights with popcorn and ice cream.

Thank you for a Christmas tree.

Thank you for pig roasts.

Thank you for sharing an old memory and story.

Thank you for sitting by Jim’s side and holding his hand.

Thank you for sharing your love with him and all of us.

The reason we love, serve, do good for others is a natural response to God for all that He has given to us. Through God’s love and grace, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the gift of faith God gives to us, we know we are destined for eternal life.  And until that day we are called to be a witness and live like Christ.

Jim was the first one to try and help anyone in need.  It was not easy for him to be on the other side and let people help him.  But I hope we can all learn from Jim that if you are able to help, help, and if you need help, let those around you, who love you, help you.  Life is short and the people we are surrounded by are precious.

Jim also loved to celebrate with people.  So today we celebrate Jim.  We miss him dearly, but we will keep his memory alive by celebrating his life.

I pray that my children can learn from Jim’s mistakes and have a heart as big as his.  I pray that their faith is strengthened daily that they can live a life like him, a life that makes everyone around them better, a life that builds people up and challenges everyone to be their best, a life that leads people to Jesus, the way, the truth and the life, the only true source of hope, peace, joy and love.

We will never be able to thank you enough, but now I have one more request for each of you.  You can help keep Jim’s memory alive and point people to Jesus.  Don’t get comfortable.  You can’t learn any younger. Help someone any way you are able.  If you need help, don’t wait to ask or let someone help you.  And love each and every person God has put in your life and don’t take one minute with them for granted.  Hug a little longer and harder like Jim.

The best day on earth can’t compare to heaven.  I look forward to the heavenly reunion with all believers one day.  What a celebration that will be!
