Journal entry by Jim McCann

I apologize for not posting much since Jim came home.  I hope that you assumed that no news was good news.  Well, that's exactly what my silence meant.  It was a busy silence.  Picture 2 ducks casually floating on a lake.  Beneath the surface they're paddling like crazy!  That's a picture of our last 2 1/2 weeks.

Jim's recovery is exceptional (according to his doctors) but exceptionalism is always the result of hard work.  Jim has worked hard, persevered and done all the many exercises and tasks required to adapt to a new way to eat, sleep and heal. Part of what has fueled his dedication to quickly recovery is his need to run his own life instead of me giving him suggestions as to what he "should" be doing for his own good, of course.  Recovery from this surgery is 6-8 weeks and normalcy returning in about 6 months. So we Jim still has work to do.  After COVID and cancer, we are looking eagerly ahead to normalcy!

Dr. Kim has released him with instructions to followup with his oncologist, Dr. Mike Andrews and his gastroenterologist, Dr. Suku George.  We are so fortunate to have these physicians and many more right here in our community!  Dr. Sanghera will see him perhaps once or twice more (we hope).  Then we'll carefully maintain a healthy and watchful lifestyle as all cancer patients are called to do.

We have coveted and thrived on your prayers, love, good deeds and good wishes.  Prayers have indeed been heard and answered. We believe in a merciful and mighty God!  Thank you for calling on Him on Jim's behalf. Please call, text or let us know on social media your prayer needs.  Let us be "all in" for you in your time of need!  Love to all, Jim and Johnnie
