Jim’s Story

Site created on November 5, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

After having trouble swallowing, Jim was scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy.  On October 19th, a routine endoscopy/colonoscopy resulted in some esophageal bleeding. Concerned about the blood loss and his underlying anemia, the team called an ambulance. Jim was transported to Swedish (First Hill) ER and was admitted to the hospital. During this hospital stay,  Jim was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. This turn of events caught all of us off guard-especially the late stage of the cancer. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and support.

Journal entry by Joe Legaz

Hey all,

Not much new news to share on dad's health, but he wanted to share a moment of merriment from last night's celebration of American democracy.

Here is a picture of dad and I toasting to the state of Georgia by eating some peaches and yogurt.
