Journal entry by Amy Lavey

Jim has finally come home! He arrived home shortly after 1:00pm today. It has been almost 3 months since he was admitted.  I had tears of joy when we were leaving the hospital.

He is doing so good. He is still in need of oxygen when doing activities.  He will have home therapy now which will start tomorrow.

He is so happy to be home, he is already out in the garage with Jonathan. Getting back to things he enjoys. That will be the best medicine for him.

Before we left St Luke's we went up to the MRICU on 8/11/2021 to say hello and thank you to the staff that did so much for Jim.  They were so happy to see him and were amazed at how well he was doing. Amanda his nurse that was with him the day he left there said "it is so weird to hear your voice".  I can only imagine that, taking care of patients but never hearing them talk because of the ventilator.  They are such special people that work in that department. I can't say enough about how wonderful they all were.

Thank you to everyone that has prayed for us, helped us with meals, sent cards and messages. You have all helped us through a very hard time.

I said in the beginning when Jim went to the hospital that "he will come home". Today that has happened. With that said this will be my last post. It is not the end of Jim's recovery, that will still happen for the weeks and months ahead. We do not know what the future will hold but I am so glad that Jim is home to share the future with me.

God Bless all of you

Amy
