Newest Update

Journal entry by Wendy Krzyzanowski

Hello to Family and Friends

I know that it has been a while since I wrote here but I wanted to give you all an update on Jim.

In July of last year, Jim was released from Hospice care and we went on our own, as Jim was stable. His 6 month MRI showed nothing so we were happy about that!

In December of 2023, Jim had his 6 month MRI and it showed something totally different then the June '23 scan.  Where the surgeons took the mass out, there was another mass growing in the same place.  So, when we did the math, Jim's surgery in 2022 only helped for 1.75 years.  Not only did they find another mass, it had grown in only a 6 month timeframe and of course it was again going towards the Brain Stem (almost touching it now).  We were told that this mass was very aggressive as the size of the mass was the same as when the surgery was done.

We were told that the scans where taken to the tumor board and the Drs. advised of NO more surgeries.  No DUH, right?  We were told that we could do several things, one being chemo, another radiation and/or Proton radiation - all that would be away for from home with a lot of traveling.  One thing was certain, the Dr. we were speaking with didn't look at Jim's chart to find out that he was still on feeding tube for nutrition and not a full functioning person.  Then the Dr. backtracked and stated that the options above would probably not be beneficial.

So, right before Christmas Jim decided that enough was enough and that he had exhausted all means for stopping any mass from growing.  In January, Jim was losing weight and with the mass back, Hospice had been started again.

In the last several weeks, Jim has shown confusion, processing problems and weight loss.  To say the least he is declining and his body is getting tired. We would really appreciate it if all of our prayer warriors would say some prayers for Jim during this time.

The Krzyzanowski Family thanks you in advance!
