Jim was a gift to all of us--he gave us his art, his wit, his kindness, his friendship. Such a loving man--his spirit remains with us. Diane and family, what a beautiful time with you as he passed on!

A truly beautiful and deeply caring man has taken his last breath in his body here. My time with him was brief and memorable. His creativity breathes on in art in family dna in memories.

I met Jim at his show at Minnesota State Mankato years ago. I will always have that feeling of how my heart leapt at seeing his paintings for the first time, a feeling so many of us share. I talked with him after his presentation and marveled that he was was just like his paintings - vibrantly alive, kind, generous, direct, witty and critical with a large dose of shenanigan's. He said that rabbit was his spirit animal. I believed him, thinking of him every time I see one there and then not there. I am honored to have met him and his inimitable spirit. I send my deep condolences to you and your family, and take heart that his spirit will always be present with you.

I will never forget the last time we saw Jim. He was in Denver for a show and he took time out of his busy schedule to meet us for breakfast. That was Jim. Always willing to make time for friendship. What a wonderful, kind man. So inspiring. I'm holding you in my heart, Diane, and sending love to you and your family.

What a loss for Diane and all his family--and for the world. I didn't know Jim but I know Diane and I remember her speaking of him as "the love of her life," not that long after they met. I also remember she told how they met: a little different detail about the party they met at and how, as the only two people dressed casually, in jeans, they gravitated toward each other--apparently over the sausage rolls. I love his work, and we still have that.

I have been sad all day, since learning of Jim's passing. I'm still sad, but am also filled with good thoughts of him. I still sit here looking at the rabbit painting I bought from him. It comforts me. I hope you are all doing well.
