Jim’s Story

Site created on July 22, 2018

Jim's foot issue started almost a year ago.  There was a spot on the  bottom of his foot that resulted in a foot ulcer.  We  started seeing specialists, we tried so many different treatments in hopes of clearing the ulcer up.  After many foot infections, several surgeries and hospital stays, Jim made the decision on Monday July 16th to have his foot amputated on Wednesday July 25th.  We feel this is the best decision and will improve Jim's quality of life.

Dear friends, I want to thank all of you for the wonderful cards, posts on the site and well wishes over the past 2 weeks!  Your support carried me through some pretty traumatic times the past few week!  I had the staples removed from the "nub" today and everything is healing as planned.  As a treat Mona took me to McDonalds for an ice cream cone (just like when we were little kids). Now it is up to Tillges, my prosthetic maker, to get the nub ready for a temporary prosthetic.  My goal is to hopefully be starting to learn to walk by late September.

Everything is just a game of waiting for everything to heal with nothing new to report.  Therefore, this will be my final post. Once I get my shiny new foot, I will email everybody!

Mona and I would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support. You all mean a great deal to us!
