Site created on September 25, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Jim was diagnosed with a High Risk Prostate Cancer after a biopsy that resulted in a Gleason score of 8 (This is what made them think it was high risk).  After having a CT and bone scan, they are confident that his cancer has not spread.  Praise the Lord! We met with the surgeon, Dr. Mullins on Sept. 29 and the Oncologist, Oct. 1 We have scheduled Jim's surgery to remove the prostate on Nov. 2. We are thankful for our daughter, Sara and her recommendations and willingness to come help the day of the surgery.  She has agreed to stay with him in the hospital that first night as she knows what to look for and what he will need much better that me!(Debbi) Sara will be able to ask the necessary questions and make sure everyone is caring well for her Daddy! One night in the hospital is all he should need. The surgeon comes with great recommendations and has performed over 1000 of these procedures.  (He is a young doctor who did his residency at Johns Hopkins) We ask that you please pray for Jim to tolerate the surgery well and that his healing will be speedy and without complications.  Thank you!!

Journal entry by Debbi Beers

Jim went for a PSA blood test to see if the surgeon got all the cancer. Praise God that no cancer was detected!!! They will do another every 3 months until the results remain cancer free for a year. We are in Greensboro for Priscilla’s wedding, tomorrow and have this view from the back deck of the house we are renting with Sara, Jeni, and Liz.
