Journal entry by Jessie Klorman

Diving into pregnancy number 2, I realized I didn't do well documenting details about my pregnancy or once Everett was here. I've been constantly relying on sent text messages to figure out prior information. I hope we can look back at these journal entries as our success story with the help of our efforts, medicine & doctor's directions! So let's get caught up to now! I am 25 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. What has happened thus far.

Found out we were pregnant July 6th
Had 7 week, 13 week 17 week & 19 week ultrasounds. Everything looking perfect!

I began my progesterone injections at 16 weeks. I actually found them to be not as bad as I've heard... initially :) no notable changes or symptoms.

On the 20th week I worked a wedding that ended up being physically a lot, even with double my typical staff! I was sore the 4 days to follow. Our O.B. made an extra appointment to check my cervix. We found out that next day that my cervix had thinned to 2.65 cm which would put us in the premature labor risk category. Saddened by the news, our O.B. prescribed us a nightly progesterone medication, atop of our injections. I didn't feel the best the next two weeks, but walked into my next appointment 14 days later knowing I'd have a better reaction from the OB team. My cervix had measured 3.7 one appointment and 3.0 the next. Both were considered within a pretty safe range so we were calmer and grateful. My fluid looked completely normal.

The following week (23 weeks) I worked yet another wedding but only for 4 hours at MINIMAL movement. When working at venues there's really very little opportunity to sit or stay still but I did my best. At one point though, someone fainted and things got a little hectic and I was running around. Anyways, I knew I was sore as soon as I got home that night. The next day I (TMI, if you want to skip ahead...) noticed I lost some of my mucus plug twice. I checked in with my doctor and we agreed I could wait until my appointment the following morning to be seen. I crawled into bed and started to fall asleep but woke up with contractions. I was shocked because it didn't feel like Braxton Hicks, it felt like the start of labor with Everett. I downloaded a contraction counter and started it every time I felt the next wave come on. 45 minutes in of 1-2 minute contractions every 2-5 minutes, I finally told Ryan. This continued for another 45 minutes until they started falling further apart & eventually stopped.

The next day at our appointment we were relieved to find out that the contractions were ineffective and things still looked good for us. Sitting on that 3cm line. But this was something we wouldn't want to happen again so our doctor prescribed us an only-if-you-need-it medication that helps to make contractions less efficient. We did some research that night and were pleased with what we found. Always nice to have some sort of back up plan. BUT that was my last wedding for the year since I had passed off all events until after the baby, so the weeks to follow have felt great!

This brings us to now, 25 weeks. Lately, I've been feeling well enough to do normal things like lift and carry Everett, be quicker on my feet, do normal walking like through the district or on our street. All of our appointments have been great. If I had to complain about anything it would be the injections hurting now as they've added up & the onset of rapid weight gain since starting the daily progesterone. But if that gets us through full term than bring on the pounds! Oh well 😋
