Jessica’s Story

Site created on April 23, 2019

My story... Hmmmm. My story is still being written! Doctors found a cancerous sarcoma in my psoas muscle in 2016 by a total fluke! I consider it God’s handiwork! It was successfully removed in 2017. In late 2018 scans showed the potential for the sarcoma to have spread to my lungs (that’s where is loves to go). Sure enough, in April 2019, a lung biopsy confirmed that is indeed what had taken place. And here we are...

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jessica Buteyn

This is the same update I posted on facebook, so if you read that post... you’re up-to-date!

I know a miracle would seem to be the scans showing that the tumors were gone from my lungs, but I am beginning to feel a bit differently about that. Let me explain!

I had my 3 month scans on Monday and the news took my breath away. Two of the tumors grew a millimeter each. Do you realize just how small a millimeter is!  _  👈🏼That is about 2 millimeters! Two tumors were stable and one we couldn’t see at all! Remarkably, no new ones appeared! The most amazing news is, I don’t have to come back until..... JANUARY 15!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Praise Jesus. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

To put this in perspective, if I was going through Chemo, this would be considered a successful scan!!

So maybe the miracle I’ve been praying for isn’t actually full healing, but rather it’s living a life with the constant reminder in my lungs to keep God 1st, live each day as if it’s possibly one of my last, Love harder and more passionately than ever before, find joy where I can, and appreciate the amazing family, friends, and blessings I have been graced with! This will keep me from ever becoming complacent again! I wouldn’t have chosen this path, but this is where I am finding my place, developing a deep relationship with God, and finding out what really matters! That... That is a miracle in my book. I’m not going to stop praying for complete healing, but I’m also overjoyed with today’s news and give glory to Jesus for holding me so tightly!

The really great news is I can stop focusing on me right now and start giving back!! So you may want to get in line behind me at McDonald’s or Starbucks... because paying it forward is usually where I start 🤣

In all seriousness, if you need a prayer said, need to talk, need to vent, need a meal (it will most likely not be homemade, but Gino’s and Ala Roma are delightful), need help cleaning, heck... I’ll even come help you finish off the wine in your house so you have more room in the fridge! I’m giving that way! My goal is to be the kind of friend and show others the kind of support that has been offered to me! I don’t have as many answers as I once thought I had and my advice is free... so you get what you pay for... but I’m here for you!! Any time!!

Love to you all❤️
