Journal entry by Jessica Leffew —
Hello My Friends,
Last week was my first week in a few months where I didn't have to go to a hospital or doctor's office. That was pretty great! It felt somewhat normal. (You know, minus the mask and the hand sanitizer and the social distancing,) We were even able to go celebrate our youngest kid, Xander's, birthday at Top Golf.
As mentioned, the targeted therapy has minimal side effects, just a bit of gastrointestinal stuff. The real blessing has been the people I've been able to talk to. It was a phone call from my ob-gyn that let me know about the beginning of this battle with cancer. She is also a Christian and a member of our church, so after our talk, she prayed over me that I would have peace, receive healing and be able to empathize with the women in my congregation as a co-warrior with them. I contribute my total peace through this season with that first approach. Since then, I have had the opportunity to pray with several ladies beginning that same journey. It has truly been beauty from ashes.
I want to encourage you to find the joy in your journey, whatever it is. Sometimes we have no joy of our own to bring to the table, and that's when we need the joy of the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us.
