Newest Update

Journal entry by Jennifer Islam

Hi everyone, I’ve been meaning to update this page ever since Jess was discharged from the hospital a week and a half ago. She was sent home under hospice care and has been home with care from her family ever since.

This afternoon at 12:16 pm Jess breathed her last at home as I held her hand. She was surrounded with friends and family always, but especially this past week as her situation turned for the worse.  It was especially important that her daughter Zoe had come home from college to be with her for the past several days.

Although we miss her terribly and know there are many tears to come, there is a relief in knowing that her suffering is over and now we gladly take the pain, rather than Jess, as she has already endured so much and fought so hard.

The care and support from all of our friends and family has been nothing short of amazing. Our family is in awe of the kindness, concern, and generosity that has been extended to Jess and Zoe (and all of us) during this fight. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

There will be a visitation at Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday evening  (April 9) with a memorial service at the same place on Saturday (April 10) morning. I will add the details on timing as I know more.
