Jessica’s Story

Site created on May 1, 2021

One month after giving birth to a beautiful, healthy baby Charlotte, I was back in the hospital with uncontrolled bleeding. Part of the placenta failed to detach, and instead grew into a highly aggressive but curable choriocarcinoma (cancer of the placenta). Chemo will be intense and difficult, and will mean overnight hospital stays away from Charlotte and Christian every other week for 12-18 weeks of treatment if all goes well.

Thank you for checking in on us, and for your prayers and support at this time!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jessica Eiynck

Thankfully, my medical status has not changed much since September and I remain cancer-free!  I continue to have monthly blood draws, though from my arm now that my port has been removed.   It feels like things are only improving and I am finally recuperating after a slightly rough start to motherhood...!  The cancer is not expected to return, but we don't get the all-clear until August.  I won't plan to post on this site until then.

Since my last update, my mom's battle with cancer has also ended.  She entered peacefully into God's kingdom surrounded by loving family on October 10th, 2021.  She will always be missed, but her journey through this world with great faith and love is a constant inspiration and reminder for all, and a wonderful example for me as a mother to Charlotte.  This past year has brought so much joy, sadness, triumph, suffering...etc., but GROWTH in every way and I am thankful for it all.

THANK YOU all again for your prayers and support.

Romans 8:38-39  “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
