Jessica "Jess"’s Story

Site created on January 30, 2019

On Sunday night, January 27th, 2019, Jessica "Jess" Ditlevson started feeling ill.  Thinking she needed to get a breath of fresh air, she and her boyfriend Jamie and her daughter Kaya drove to get something to eat for dinner in Byron.  Just as they reached Byron, Jess unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest.  Jamie and her courageous daughter immediately began performing CPR on her until first responders arrived shortly after their 911 call.  An unbelievable team of first responders were able to stabilize her condition and she was rushed by ambulance to St. Mary's hospital in Rochester MN.  She underwent emergency surgery to correct a spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) induced heart attack.  She was sedated after surgery and is slowly beginning her recovery.  We will keep updating her journal so that everyone can stay informed of her recovery progress.   Please keep Jessica and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through her journey to recovery.

Journal entry by Jamie Landolt

So Jess has completed her first week of recovery at home.  Have lots of doctor visits and cardio rehab sessions to attend this week.  She is still tiring easily and very sore from everything that occurred.  Thanks to all of you who have volunteered to assist in taking turns to get her to/from everything the next few weeks.  We really appreciate it.  Special thanks to Pastor Steve and Amy for all of the help everyone from the Community Celebration Church has provided.  We are so blessed to have such a great network of friends and support.
