Journal entry by Dave Donofrio

Good News!  The current plan is for Jerry to be discharged from Dominican Hospital this Friday, November 6th.  He will be transferred to Pacific Coast Manor for intensive rehabilitation therapies for the next several weeks.

Jerry continues to do extraordinarily well.  On my last visit I found him in the dining hall happily eating a varied, but soft lunch surrounded by his fellow acute recovery patients.  Definitely a big step up from sipping “nectar” through a straw in a hospital bed! Although still unable to use his limbs on his right side or speak clearly, he is much more animated and can get a word or two out albeit with a great of effort. You can clearly see in his eyes and face that he knows there is light at the end of the tunnel! ❤️

Regarding this website, there seems to be some confusion exactly what a “Tribute to Jerry” is.  To clarify that, you should know that any monetary contribution goes to Caring Bridge, not Jerry.  Caring Bridge is a noble organization, and we encourage contributions to support their efforts. However, if you want to contribute directly to Jerry to help with his rehabilitation and living expenses, you should do that through the Gofundme link on this site.

Jerry would love to see you at his new digs at Pacific Coast Manor.  Their address is 1935 Wharf Road, Capitola CA 95010.  You should phone first to make sure your planned visit time doesn’t conflict with one of his therapy sessions.

Thank you all for your love and support!
