Newest Update

Journal entry by Mike Lauritsen

We are back in Pierre and it feels good to be home.  The amount of support from family, friends, and the community has been amazing and we thank you!

Jen had her 10th dose of radiation on Wednesday and got to "ring the bell" signifying the completion of her radiation treatment for the cancer in her L2 vertebrae.  We are hopeful that the radiation along with the chemotherapy/anticancer drugs will drive the cancer into remission in her vertebrae.

She also received injections of the bone strengthening/anti cancer drugs on Friday.  These injections will stop the production of estrogen and progesterone which is what the cancer feeds off of.  The hope is that the cancer in the L2 vertebrae, the lymph nodes, and breast will go in to remission.

Jen will have additional treatment in Sioux Falls every two weeks for the first couple of months and then monthly for 9 to 12 months. At that time, if the scans come back showing no new cancer spots she will have multiple surgeries.

We will have more updates in a couple of weeks.

Please continue to pray for her recovery.

Thanks
