Journal entry by Jessica Rivera

Breast Cancer. Every woman dreads it. So when my mom, Jenny Card (Chisolm), found a small lump she feared receiving the diagnosis her own mother, Mary Dudley, had also received decades before. When her diagnosis came back as Triple Negative breast cancer, we had no clue what that meant. We had never heard of it. Basically it's called that because it is totally unresponsive to the three commonly used treatments for cancer. It's the most aggressive form of breast cancer and because of this she begins an extensive treatment plan immediately. Today, September 13th, is her first day of chemo.
She will undergo months of chemo, immunotherapy, a double mastectomy, and genetic testing to determine whether anyone else in our family is also at-risk for developing breast cancer.

If you know Jenny, you know she is a strong woman with a fighter's spirit. She loves her friends and family fiercely. She is always there to support them in their times of need. And now is her time of need. We have no doubts her community will show up for her in ways we can't even imagine yet. From prayers and positive energy, to visits with friendly faces and so much more. Your support and love are so genuinely appreciated, we thank you <3
