Jenni’s Story

Site created on March 8, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Jenni Meier. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. On March 2, 2019 Jenni was involved in an automobile accident. She was transported to University Hospital and is in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Jenni is receiving around the clock care from an amazing group of doctors and nurses. She continues to make progress daily and her prognosis is good. This will be an extensive rehabilitation process for Jenni but she is strong both mentally and physically. Although visits from friends and family are on hold while she is in the SICU, Jenni and her family appreciate the continued outpouring of love and support from all of you. We appreciate your support, words of hope and encouragement, and continued prayers for Jenni. Please feel free to leave messages for her and her family on this page. Thank you for visiting. We are #JENNISTRONG.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Dave Bell

It's been almost 8 weeks of watching our beautiful daughter continue to recover, heal & be restored in ways only God can do.

Her internal injuries have mostly healed & been restored. Her neck ligaments & vertebrae fractures are healed & she's been released from seeing her spine doctor.  Jenni has been released to remove her neck brace part time until she builds her neck muscles strengthen back.

The leg fractures continue to be her main focus of healing now as they take the longest. She is still non weight bearing on one side but she has amazingly been able to compensate enough to get in & out of her wheelchair, bed, and even the car to get out some & be able to get around more.

Her PT & OT has been at home but begins outpatient 1st of May.  PT will be limited to upper body mostly until her lower extremities have had more time to heal. She has a ways to go to rebuild back her strength & muscle she's lost but works daily towards that goal. Her hand & elbow surgeon said she can use her hand as much as she can tolerate. The elbow will need extra therapy.

Her picc line has been removed (yay!) so no more IV antibiotics. Just oral for a while longer.

It has been & continues to be a Miracle in Progress journey. Jenni & our family are so grateful for all the prayers, visits, support, gifts, meals & love that has been poured out on us. It has truly blessed Jenni & our family on this journey & season of our life.  We wish we knew a way to bless back each & every person that has blessed us. Since we don't know a way we're asking God to bless you all in a special way that only He can.

As Jenni's journey of healing & restoration continues she remains #JENNISTRONG.

To God be the Glory.
