For those wanting an update (since it’s been like a year since our last post here). Jennings checkup went good today! His heart continues to be stable from 6 months ago with an ejection fraction of 64%. The valves look great and the actually heart when it pumps looks good also. We asked his cardiologist questions regarding the timing of his next surgery oand when she thinks it would take place. She told us based on him now that she is hoping that it’s not until at least age 4 if not even 5-6. She said it’s all based on oxygen levels and when the start to decrease. Just like going from his 1st surgery to his second. If he would happen to start decreasing from the higher 80s which he is now he before he would be 4 they would likely do a cath and see if his body is creating any extra blood vessels to compensate for the lower oxygen levels. Those extra blood vessels around the heart would lead to pooling of unoxygenated blood that would cause the lower levels.
Right now we are thankful for this great checkup and that we do not have to see cardiology for another 6 months. We will continue to take it day by day and just be thankful for how well he is doing. We are proud of our boy💙
