Journal entry by Deb Larsen

Things are S-L-O-W-L-Y progressing and Jennifer was moved from PICU to 5th floor yesterday. The goal is still to get her off of the ventilator but the options of being sent home with a ventilator are being discussed. She would need a home ventilator as well as a portable ventilator for school and van/travel if it comes to that. Brad and Michelle are receiving training for a home ventilator, and the nurses who help take care of Jennifer at home and in school will also need to have extra training for it. The number of hours that a home nurse will be necessary will also need to be increased. In the meantime Jennifer is tolerating room air a little better every day. She has been up in her wheelchair three times a day for longer periods of time, including yesterday a.m. until noon. Your prayers and phone calls and messages and words of support and encouragement continue to be heard and felt, and are deeply appreciated!
