Journal entry by Jennifer Concha

Hi Everybody! It's been quite a while since my last entry, which I'm happy to report is because there hasn't been much of anything to report!!! I went another round with all my doctors and for the first time actually got to see their faces! I started this stroll through Cancertown during Covid and the 'powers-that-be' in Jersey didn't lift the stupid masking requirement in medical facilities until last month!! It was kind of nice to see features beyond just eyeballs!

So, let's see - I'm down to seeing the radiation oncologist once a year instead of every six months - yeah! I still have to see the breast surgeon twice a year, but at least he bumped me down to just one mammogram a year - that's a big YEAH! The medical oncologist is still every six months because of the medication I take. I've been on it now for a little over a year and since I'm looking at five to ten more years of little white pills, I don't expect the frequency of seeing her to die down any time soon. Kind of a bummer but what can you do?! The most recent doctor visit was the plastic surgeon and he's down to once a year now too - yeah! I'll be honest, I'm not sure why he still feels a need to have me come in. It's not like I'm planning to have any voluntary procedures done. They still ask me if I want a tattoo every time I go in though, so maybe they're just trying to wait me out!?! I see the GYN later in the month, but that should just be routine. That's about it on the medical front! It's so nice to NOT have more to report!

I saw my new dentist last month and had my first cleaning at that office. He didn't have any new miracle cures for this stupid crown (that yes, still gives me pains!), but he did say that it's up to me to decide when it's too much to handle. If it really starts driving me crazy (how could you ever tell, right!?!?!), he'll send me to a specialist for a root canal or a replacement tooth. Neither of those options sound like fun, so for now I'm just gutting it out. Other than that bit of happy news, it was a pretty good visit. The hygienist was nice and did a decent job on the chompers. And on a very happy note, I spotted the suspiciously pink tooth polish before she got to that part of the cleaning and asked her to change the 'whatever-berry-flavored' nightmare she had on the tray to mint or flavor-free! I'm pretty sure she put that tidbit of info in my chart too! I'll still watch her, but I have high hopes! I had been going to my last dentist for over twenty years and in all that time, they only had one girl who consistently got it right - NO FRUITY POLISH! Everyone else, every time had to switch out the tooth-frooti! YEESH!

As always - many heart-felt thanks for all the positive energy I feel coming my way every day - it means the world!!!!! Please know that you are all always in my prayers!! Love to all!!!!!!!!!
