Newest Update

Journal entry by Jennifer Jantz

Hello to all!
Quick update here...I had a post op checkup today. Hard to believe it's been nearly a month already since surgery!
Dr. McGee asked if I'd been just blowin' and goin'! Ha! Well, I've definitely been feeling stronger and haven't had much pain the last while, but I haven't been running any marathons either! I still get tired out easier or sooner than I used to.
Dr. McGee basically told me to take it easy with lifting, etc for another month and to not get water in my right ear or do any vigorous cleaning in/on it for about 6 weeks yet.

He also said that spinal fluid leaks are still a risk even long term although it is rare. But if I notice anything I'm supposed to give him a call.
Otherwise, the next time I need to see him for a checkup is in 6 months!  He said I probably wouldn't need to do an MRI for at least a year, maybe longer.

Also, he asked if I'd had any dizziness or balance issues since surgery...I told him I hadn't experienced any dizziness to speak of and my balance has been pretty good overall.
He said with my equilibrium, it should be back to normal within 3 months. The left side of my brain will compensate for the loss on the right side and it will actually work better than if the right side were only partly working. Interesting how that works and how God made us!
He also encouraged me to take walks to help out with any balance issues, I may have. I had been walking off and on over the summer, but haven't since surgery. Guess I'll have to get back in the swing of things!! 😉

Well, I think that's all I have as far as an update for now.
I'm not sure I'll have anything to post for awhile, if my recovery keeps on like it has been.
If anything new comes up, I'll be sure and post it, though.
Thanks again for all your prayers and support through this time. The love and care have meant so much and all the cards and flowers and "surprise sunshine gifts" have been lovely!!
I feel unworthy of it all, but very thankful and grateful to have such wonderful friends and church family! Let's continue to pray for each other, as we all have things we face that look big to us. We need each other! .... "We are all just walking each other home" 💖 Love you all!
