Jenifer’s Story

Site created on April 7, 2019

Jenifer was in a car accident early February.  Several weeks later complications from the accident led to the discovery of breast cancer that had spread to several lymph nodes. Through further testing they have diagnosed her with stage 4 cancer, since it has spread to multiple bones, spine, brain and neck.

The first priority is to protect the compromised bones from fracturing so they can begin chemotherapy. She will also be having radiation immediately as well. Thank you all for your prayers.

Journal entry by Jenifer Bowen

Saturday greetings to the VERY BEST prayer warriors and supporters an ordinary girl could have, one who steadfastly refuses to surrender to Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer, the insidious, terminal disease.

There is still so much I want to share, but that will have to wait a little while longer.

First, I survived Covid for the second time, as well as an e-coli infection! (How I got that, we will never know.) It
took nearly 3-weeks to feel almost human again. Unfortunately, I was not in a physical condition to stay on top of personal correspondence, social media, etc. during that time. It was very challenging to even look at my phone or tv screens.

While the “Big C” took me down hard, I survived again. 💪🙌 Despite an urgent care visit for diagnosis and a lengthy ER  visit the following weekend, I was NEVER admitted to the hospital, even with severe dehydration and lowering potassium levels!

The ER staff determined what was going on and gave me what was needed. And I was strong enough to stay out of the hospital! About 8-hours later, Dad was finally able to “spring” us out of there.

Covid tried fiercely to take me down, but God said, “NO! Not today!” 😍🥰

All Praise to God. It has been at least 2-YEARS since I have spent any time in the hospital!

If you have been following this CaringBridge site since my initial diagnosis in March 2019, you may recall that I have been hospitalized for many, many weeks those first few, darkened years and recognize the miracle it is that I have not been hospitalized in so long. All Praise to God!

I MUST tell you the MIRACLE of MIRACLES I experienced yesterday afternoon.

It is not a stretch for me to tell you that I learned that I am walking in a miraculous miracle of epic proportion. God has mercifully granted, keeps granting me dozens, maybe even hundreds, of miracles that Only He can do!

You have been and are an irreplaceable support to me these past 4-years and counting and I HAVE to share with you my EXCITING “breaking news.” 😁

Quick back-story.

In my cancer battle, there is a separation between what happens in my brain and then in the rest of my body.

My December 2022 brain MRI showed that “whatever” is in my brain has been continuously shrinking a little at a time! Also, the swelling around “whatever”
keeps going down too! So, it is likely scar tissue. (My next MRI will be at the end of April and will know where I stand then.)

Then there is the rest of my body, from the base of my skull to the thighs. I had a PET scan earlier this week to view all the locations cancer had initially invaded throughout my body, to see what my cancer is "doing right now.”

On Friday I met with my oncology team for Wednesday’s PET scan results.

Buckle up! You are about to hear, QUITE POSSIBLY, one of the greatest miracles you have ever heard!

All that cancer, spread throughout my body?

There is “NO evidence of disease”!

I am in REMISSION!

Remission! Remission! Remission!

REEEE-MISSSSION!

I never knew that REMISSION was even a realistic scenario for me, warring against this vile Stage IV Cancer!

Thank you for your ceaseless prayer support. All of your prayers and your encouraging messages have carried me to this place of an earthly VICTORY. They HAVE not nor WILL not return void. He is using you in my life, all the time.

I sing praises to God for all that He has - is - will do through our prayers, made in unison, as we raise them to Him!

All Honor and Praise be to God!

In His confidence and for His Glory Alone - cancer WILL lose!
