Journal entry by chris yoder

Hello Everyone,

Chris here. As I’m sure you can all imagine Rod has been incredibly busy and since it’s been some time since anything has been posted to Caring Bridge, Rod asked me to give everyone an update on Jena’s condition.

First, Jena did find a doctor willing to treat her in the Atlanta area thanks to a referral from my uncle Richard. She received the beta blocker that she needed several weeks ago, and is scheduled to go back this Thursday for another treatment. It was a relief to both Rod and Jena to find a doctor they liked that was willing to treat her according to the protocol they chose.

Over the past several weeks Jena has been in the hospital several times due to the high calcium levels. She did have one stretch last week where the calcium levels were stable and she felt relatively well. Unfortunately, by Friday her calcium levels were elevated again and she was readmitted to the local hospital due to high calcium levels once again. She is back home now but continues to have severe nausea.

This has been an unbelievably long and arduous journey for Rod and Jena. It’s now been 4 solid months for Jena of severe nausea and weakness (the nausea is mostly from the high calcium levels). As I’m sure you can imagine this has really taken its toll. It’s heartbreaking to watch the journey they are walking through together - please continue to lift Rod, Jena, and the children in prayer. Especially pray she’d find relief from the nausea she has been experiencing. Thank you all for how much you’ve shown you care.
