I was one of Jeff' colleagues in the utility industry and had the fortunate opportunity to work with Jeff for many years on many different projects. He was always thoughtful, considerate and inclusive in his approach to any effort. I also greatly appreciated his quick wit and generous sense of humor. I am so sad he is no longer with us in this world, but immensely grateful I got to learn from him while he was here.

I met Jeff at TEP for a regional resource planning discussion a few years ago, where he demonstrated thoughtful, quiet leadership. Since then, I've come to appreciate his ability to direct discussion to issues of consequence, and I am confident that his input on our regional power grid planning will continue to have an impact for decades.
As the news of Jeff's passing spread among the SRP virtual offices in Phoenix, I was surprised by how many people felt closely connected to Jeff. I know many of us feel the loss of his professional influence in our industry.
I offer my condolences to his family.

My deepest sympathies extend to the Yockey family and friends. A loss at a young age for such a talented man. I remember Jeff from High School and recall him being witty, polite, and extremely intelligent. My prayers are with him , family, and friends. God bless🙏🏻🔥

Jim, you guys did a great job capturing Jeff's life and spirit in this obituary. I can see him cracking up while reading it – he would have heartily approved. Loved the “Best Rester Award”, an achievement you can really build from. As one of 9 kids I completely identify with forced character development and comradery through tight quarters and iniquities. We had 1 ½ baths and traveled in a single station wagon. The International Harvester Travel All was the ultimate family-truckster of it's day. Would love to hear Jeff’s hardboiled egg hack; it has thus far eluded me in life. One skill you didn’t mention was Jeff’s ability to stick an entire apple in his mouth and eat it without using his hands, quality entertainment at the cafeteria table – he wanted to audition for Lettermans’ stupid human tricks. I have enjoyed reading everyone’s stories and testaments to his peaceful nature and existence. Jeff was a genuine soul and will be missed by all. Wishing your family happy memories and healing in the days ahead.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Jeff was a truly genuine, authentic, kind, and thoughtful person. Though I’ve only known him for a couple of years through work, I feel I am better for it. Wishing you all strength and serenity.
