Journal entry by Marissa Walsh

On Friday my dad has his 6 month post surgery scans. Results came in yesterday and…. NO CANCER DETECTED!!!! Scans came back completely clean and no sign of residual or recurrent disease was detected. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

His weight is up to 138 pounds (was 124 in October) so they were super pleased with that! His goal is to keep gaining but it’s definitely a huge improvement.

He’s still slightly anemic but it’s improving so they aren’t concerned. They up-ed his iron supplement.  He’s still having pretty bad neuropathy/ numbness in his fingers so they up-ed his gabapentin too.

He meets with his surgeon for a follow up visit in January and then scans every 6 months going forward.

Outside of all the medical stuff he’s doing great too! He’s been back working full time, he’s been to an Ohio state football game, a Browns game, went to see Wicked at the Tanger center,  we got to see a bunch of family/friends in Ohio over Thanksgiving and he’s avoided COVID!!

I truly can’t believe how far he’s come in a year. From an abdomen FULL of cancer to cancer-free.  All I can say is thank god for modern medicine 😭❤️😭❤️
