Jeff’s Story

Site created on February 11, 2021

Welcome to Jeff's super fun and amazing CaringBridge website. (Okay, maybe not always super fun, but we are a family who loves to laugh and be positive, so that's what we choose to focus on! NO boo hoo-ing on this site please!)

The boy is having open heart surgery on Friday, March 5. Three procedures. Read The Backstory journal entry if you are curious to know more.

We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. While Amy loves sending texts with emoji, there are SO many of you who love this crazy guy that I can't keep up with you all! ;-)

We appreciate your positivity, love, and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!

Journal entry by Amy Stoehr

Thanks to those of you who haven't seen a post in awhile and were just wondering, "How is Jeff doing?"

The short answer: GREAT! 🙌

Read on for the longer answer...

As with all things, and especially life-saving, life-altering surgeries, we are finding our "new normal" (is that really even a thing though? Are any of us normal? I think there's no NORMAL to be had). Tweaks to diet, activities, meds...

Living on a blood thinner is no joke. Monitoring to make sure the blood is not too thick, otherwise the valve won't work well. Jeff has had to endure self-inflicted belly injections three separate times when his INR got too low (blood too thick) and it didn't turn out to be as fun and entertaining as he thought it would be. 😆

Who knew that GREEN TEA has a lot of Vitamin K in it?

Other than Jeff not being able to fly into space with William Shatner, it really hasn't been all that complicated. He and Calvin are in a fairly regular routine of walking the dogs after work each day. And football season has come, so it's pretty much Christmas over here.

As for the rest of us? Jordan whacked off his blondielocks and got a new job; Shannon and Calvin celebrated their 1-year wedding anniversary; the puppies are right around 8 months and Thor is nearly 60 pounds and so much his Daddy's Boy; and I officiated the wedding of one of my besties, Stephanie a.k.a. Nugget. Got my very first pair of cowboy boots for the occasion. Life is GOOD. 🙏
