Newest Update

Journal entry by Christina Hodgson

Good morning.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted an update. The healing process is coming along as it should be. The #1 struggle at this time is patience. The pain persists but is manageable. He is grateful for his ability and clearance to drive. That’s been a scary thing for me each time he leaves because I know he is a cautious driver but that can’t be said about everyone else out on the road. 😬 (heaven forbid an accident occur and that airbag is deployed into his chest!)

Struggle #2 is the changing of the weather and the order for him to stay home instead of hunting. I don’t believe Jeff has missed a single hunting season since he was 13 years old. We could use you prayer on this for sure. It’s not just the fact that he can’t shoot a deer but also the reality that hunting is where he connects with the Lord and feels a oneness with him out in creation. We are grateful that Remington has been able to get out and shoot a deer. It’s nice for Jeff to be able to walk through it with him over texts and calls. I can’t say that this takes away the urge for Jeff but it certainly does scratch the itch a bit.

Work has been a good distraction. This is a slow time for him which couldn’t have worked out any better given his restrictions. His boss and coworkers have been amazing and patient as he takes his time getting back on his feet.

Praise report:
  • Last Friday the surgeon released Jeff from his care entirely. We enjoyed getting to know him but we would be fine with it if we never have to see him again 😏
  • Cardiology also told Jeff everything is looking good as he adjusts to his new meds and a 100% blood flow pumping through is body 🙌
  • All the meals that continued to come in through this past week gave me time to work back into babysitting while also caring for everything at home. A HUGE thank you to all those that loved on us in that way. It was an incredible blessing!

Prayer requests:
  • Patience for all of us!!
  • For Jeff’s head to continue to clear when he’s up and about for long periods of time. He still gets a “medicine head” feeling when he’s up and we were told it’s the adjustment to the blood flow and meds. Everything looks good, it’s just going to take time to adjust. This also affects his stomach so prayers are appreciated.
  • Please pray for him to exercise caution with his lifting restriction. Lifting too much weight could cause him to break his sternum. That restriction lasts for 12 weeks (mid January 😳) It’s going to be crazy hard as he heals and feels better for him to abide by this!

Thank you so much for continuing to pray with and for us!
