On behalf of Candy & Danielle, we are posting this last journal entry about our beloved Jeff. At around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, June 5th, transport picked Jeff up at the hospital to transfer him to hospice. He received some pain medication just before leaving to make the ride more tolerable. Once he was settled in his new room at hospice, Candy and I were able to sit and talk with him. Candy stayed with him that evening, the best sleep Jeff had gotten since the evening leading up to Memorial Day. Without the IV beeps and the nurse checks along with sufficient pain medication, he was very relaxed and comfortable enough to rest peacefully.

Early morning on Tuesday, June 6th, Pastor Bob came to visit Jeff in hospice to pray over Jeff, anoint him, and to give him Communion. Within a few short hours after the pastor's visit, Jeff passed peacefully to his heavenly home. We comforted him to the very end.

These last few days have been a whirlwind of emotions. We are still struggling to process the tragic loss of Jeff to us in this life: it was such a short period of time from diagnosis to death. We are at peace, knowing Jeff is with his earthly dad and his heavenly Father.

We are grateful for all of the tributes and memories shared here and on social media. All of the love and support shown through the vigils at both Fairfield Senior High School and Indian Hill High School meant so much to us, his colleagues, and the students he taught. In addition, the local news coverage that captured Jeff's impact on so many lives and his professional achievements in his 20+ year teaching career, will speak to his legacy for years to come.
