Jean’s Story

Site created on October 17, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement as well as  all of the cards, flowers, plants, and most importantly prayers.

On October 5th, Jean suffered a stroke at home and was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.  After a number of days in ICU and their neurology unit she was moved to their acute rehab unit where she has been since October 14th.  The stroke affected the left side of her body, including her arm and leg.  She is in an intensive rehab program where they are working with her to gain back all of her movement.

Please feel free to leave well wishes for Jean on the site, thank you for visiting.   Terry, Jean, Christine, Jamin, and Adeline

Journal entry by Christine Wilson

My mom has now had five weeks of in home therapy and three weeks of outpatient rehab at SMH.  Jean continues to make slow and steady progress and really likes the therapists that she is working with.  This last week they had her walking with the support of a cane, it was not easy but they hope that in a couple of months with continued therapy she will be walking into therapy on her own! They have stopped using the in home care and are figuring out life on their own again.  Thank you all for the continued support, prayers, and help that you have given to my parents.  It really does take a village.
