Journal entry by Jacquelyn Lee —
New breath was blown into Mom's lungs a year ago today. I am so thankful to the donor and the donor's family for giving Mom the best gift imaginable. She has come so far in the past year - no more O2 tubes or concentrator, & she's gotten really good at giving herself shots! And she was quarantining before quarantines were cool.Â
Mom had her one year check-up yesterday, and all of the lab & test results have been really good. Of course, I'm going to fuss and tell her to get more exercise & stick to a better sleep schedule, but overall, I am so proud of how she has navigated this past year. We're a close family, and this has brought us closer. Most of the pictures in this post are from Mom's 70th birthday last month - we really weren't sure last year that we would get to celebrate it.
Pictured are Luke and his family - LeeAnn, Tyler & Nate. There are also snaps of Aunt Joe & Dad with the birthday girl. *Thanks to LeeAnn for letting me snag these from her FB!* There's a pic of Mom & me when we went to Cades Cove at the beginning of September. We need to head back up now that the leaves are changing.Â
Within our family bubble, we're celebrating this year. And I'm hopeful that we'll be celebrating Mom's second lungaversary next year!
