This year was the year for travel for our mother. She recently moved from Stockton, California to Tallahassee, Florida, and after a shocking and very short battle with cancer made the final trip to the ultimate vacation spot with her Lord on November 12, 2018.

Jeanette Marie Cottle was born in Sacramento, California on December 31, 1949. She graciously sailed through life’s uncertainties, becoming a young widow with four kids and then through a second marriage that produced six more children. Throughout any hardship, she always remained hopeful, knowing that with a bit of hard work, a dash of love and a lot of prayer, any obstacle could be managed.

The last few years of her life found her at her sweet spot – playing with grandchildren, doing various mission trips with her church, remodeling her home to accommodate dinner parties for friends and neighbors and creating a dance floor for one of her favorite past times, dancing to Irish music. No one was a stranger to mom, and she was fondly known as “Mama” to many of the neighborhood kids.

She is survived by her ten children: Kathy Mears (Matthew), Cindy Perry (Marc), Chris (Stefanie), Matt, Mike (Melissa), Johanna Redding (Matthew), Daniel, Timothy, Deborah and Andrew, and a current total of 16 grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church in Stockton, CA on January 5, 2019 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memoriams be made to Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida for making her final weeks on earth as comfortable as possible, or her beloved Croatian American Cultural Center in Sacramento, California.
