Newest Update

Journal entry by Karen Sall

We are overdue for an update on our parents.
Dad had Covid at the end of December and had profound weakness, loss of appetite, and weight loss . Other than a setback two weeks ago he is making slow progress and is able to be mom’s assistant around the house. He looks to have his spark back.
Mom’s recovery from a respiratory viral infection last fall has turned into a marathon. At some point along the way her underlying problem became more cardiac in nature. God was so good to provide an opportune cardiology appointment when symptoms were especially severe. With their guidance and medication changes, she has made progess in the last 2-3 weeks. Although oxygen is available yet at home, her daily need for it has decreased. A sedentary lifestyle due to shortness of breath, swallowing difficulty, and loss of appetite has led to significant weight loss and generalized muscle weakness and debility. Since she is now breathing better and has had both Covid vaccines, PT is coming into their home to start strengthening. At this point it is unknown what a new normal might look like. But we are now hopeful that with the coming of spring, she too will have a fresh outlook and renewed energy. We ask for prayers for improved appetite, weight gain for them both, along with stabilization of the congestive heat failure, and continued improvement to her quality of life.
Although this journey has been painful and discouraging at times, we know we do not walk it alone. God has provided in so many tangible ways, we are grateful and trust His ways. ad Covid at the end of December and had profound weakness, loss of appetite, and weight loss .
