Journal entry by Sherri Scholz

This is my Uncle Jay. He is the live in caregiver for my grandparents and he is a father and a husband and he loves his family dearly. He is 55 years old and is battling for his life for the 3rd time with cancer. When he was 21 he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and the treatments were a success but the radiation damaged his heart and he ended up having a heart attack in his 40s and 2 strokes and he was told that he could face cancer in the future. About a year and a half ago he was diagnosed with Small Cell lung cancer in his left lung and that was removed along with part of his right lung that had non small lung cancer in it. He only has the top right lobe of his lung left. After his surgery it was recommended that he puts on weight so he could to the recommended treatments of chemotherapy. While he was trying to put on weight however, he started to cough up blood and it was discovered that the cancer returned and is now in the top right lobe of his lung...the only lung he has left. The doctor started radiation which caused his heart to go into A-fib. He is on a medication that is helping his heart beat normally PRAISE GOD! My Uncle Jay needs to go back to his oncologist but they will not see him until he can pay the money he owes the clinic. He owes over $1,000 to just one of his doctors. He can beat this cancer but he needs our help to get the treatment he needs. He only weighs 108 pounds and in order to do the chemotherapy that can save his life he needs to gain weight but in order to gain weight he may need a feeding tube to be placed temporarily. Please help and share this if you are able to. PLEASE PRAY for God to heal him and to provide all of his needs and my grandparent's needs. We all love Jay so much and he is NEEDED in our family. He is a loving son and a caring person. He is also a musician and loves to play the guitar but he hasn't  been able to do the simple things that bring him joy because of everything he is facing right now. Thank you for taking the time to read his story.
