Journal entry by Jen Penn

We have been here living in Lincoln City for just over 2 months now.  Jaydon is doing good in his CrossFit personal training sessions.  We’ve just been settling in and honestly haven’t done too much yet.
He only has I believe 3 in hime sessions left with his current speech therapist Jenna.  She has been coming to our apartment on Tuesdays. This Tuesday she is going to come with Jaydon and I to hike the drift creek falls hike.  It’s 3 miles round trip. This will be our first hike together since before his accident.  Although hiking is more my thing he used to come along with me when I didn’t want to hike alone.  So we are going to try and start hiking regularly and we have decided we want to hike the Oregon Coast Trail.  We won’t be thru hiking it all at once but we are working on planning 2-3 day sections of it we can back pack until we complete the whole thing.  We’re working on getting. Plan for our first backpacking trip of it on a couple day section near where we live .
Perhaps I will find a site to start a blog on our hiking adventures outside of caringbridge? I also got a book the Oregon bucket list and it has the 50 natural places you must see in Oregon.  We’ve been to a few but not most we thought we’d start working on doing those too.
Sadly 3 weeks ago our kitty Missy went missing.  We keep hoping she will show back up but she hasn’t yet
Jaydon and I made fliers and knocked on neighbors doors and talked to them.  He wanted to get another cat so we adopted a sweet 1 year old kitty from the Lincoln county animal shelter on Friday .  We made sure we got a cat that will be good with other cats of our Missy comes back.  The new kitty name was flippy but we didn’t like it so we renamed her Dexter. Or rather jaydon picked the name . Long story short he was supposed to get a service dog and he had named it Dexter.  He was excited and waited patiently for months for her to be finished being trained so she could come live with us.  It fell through and he didn’t get the dog and it was upsetting.  So he decided that he wanted his pet to have the name he picked still and not just let someone else take his name he chose so we named the cat Dexter
Last thing I can think of right now is that we have a consult for his eye surgeon September 1 (one year after his Accidnet) to ask questions and decide if he wants to proceed with surgery to allow his paralyzed left eye to open since it hasn’t done so on its own as we hoped
