I am so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. I worked with D.Ann (a great mentor for me) at Dallas magazine in the 80's. As coworkers are wont to do, we'd gossip and trade stories about family. And there were a lot of Jay stories! Why I remember this one, I have no idea. At the time Jay worked for EDS, which had a strict dress code— blue suit, black suit, white shirt, blue shirt, black shoes— no funny socks, no creative ties. Jay always dressed to impress, and would ask D. Ann every morning if he "matched." One sleep deprived day she'd had enough, "Dammit Jay, everything matches, you only have two colors of suits and shirts! What do I have to do, sew on Garanimals tags so you can line up the elephants?" That just cracks me up to this day. Jay was a kind, outgoing, and friendly man. The love Jay and D. Ann shared helped to mentor me yet again as I courted my wife of now 32 years. Our thoughts and prayers to you all.

What a beautiful service to celebrate the life of such a wonderful man/husband/father/brother/friend. So very thankful and blessed that God brought Jay into our lives. His infectious laugh, smile and joy will always be remembered and he will forever be missed. Until we meet again my friend ❤❤

A fitting tribute today for a very good soul. The common thread came through from all who spoke. Jay indeed was a loving man who lived life for his family and friends to the fullest. May he be at rest and know that so many care.
