Jayci ’s Story

Site created on June 9, 2020

I want to tell you a little about my daughter, Jayci. Jayci and her twin sister Graci were both born healthy and perfect in March of 2007. When the girls started walking we noticed that Jayci favored her right leg and had some swelling in her left leg We carried her to the Dr, like any parent would, and we were told that it was growing pains. Ok- however we noticed that it only got worse so we took her back.
The Dr reluctantly ran some test and didn’t like what he saw. We ended up at Children’s hospital in Dallas Texas and they discovered that Jayci in fact had cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma in her left Femur. Jayci underwent an amputation and surgery called a rotationplasty. It is a very complex surgery for anyone, let alone a not quiet 2 year old.
When I say she has been fighting for her life, we mean it.
Jayci is now a 13 year old, strawberry blonde with blue eyes who is full of a spunk, fight and determination. She is a fighter, warrior and survivor.
Jayci has since had one scare back in 2012 but when the Dr’s went in what they saw on the scan was GONE. (Now that’s GOD).
Jayci also has to undergo an extensive surgery back in 2017 when they scraped her growth plate and realigned her hips. She spent almost six months in a wheelchair then but she came through like a champ.
On March 27th of this year Jayci tested positive for Covid. As you can imagine we were very concerned because of her immune system. Jayci was not admitted to the hospital and actually recovered pretty well from some of the stories we have heard. However the week/weeks prior to May 31st Jayci was experiencing some abdominal discomfort, nausea and extremely uncomfortable. This landed us again back into the urgent care facility. They ran some test and said that Jayci had fluid on her lungs and in her pelvic area. They transported us by ambulance back to Children’s Hospital in Dallas and we are still here. Jayci is in ICU at this time.
We have experienced nothing but a roller coaster of emotions this go around. We are having issues with infection, liver, kidneys and blood clots. They have done scans, dye test, echocardiograms, MRI’s and anything else you can imagine.
What we know RIGHT now is that she has several
Blood clots. We need prayer that those will shrink and not travel anywhere else in her body, that her body will stop throwing clots all together.
We need her kidney function to be normal, let liver and pancreas normal and good numbers. We need the team of Drs to work together for her.
Jayci was very exhausted this weekend. Screaming and crying, tired and sick of being prodded. Today they were able to remove her drain tube and able to get her picc in. This is such a praise.
We know without a doubt that God has big and mighty things for our girl. We are standing and staying firm in his promise to heal her.

Philippians 4:6-7
6 (A)do not be anxious about anything, (B)but in everything by prayer and supplication (C)with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And (D)the peace of God, (E)which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

God told us in 1 Corinthians 16:13
Be alert. Be firm in the Christian faith. Be courageous and strong. We are trying to do so but we also need your help. Pease pray for Jayci but also pray for us that we can be encouraging to her. That we can remain strong through this storm.
We are laying Jayci at the feet of Jesus and we know that he will heal her.
💜Thank you all for your continued love and prayers 💜
