Jason’s Story

Site created on August 17, 2018

For many reasons, I have decided to journal about Jason's journey through life. From the day he was born, it has been very challenging for him . He was born with Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome, has had multiple surgeries, both kidneys removed, dialysis, kidney transplant in 2004.  May 25, 2018 he had an emergency craniotomy to remove a brain tumor from his Pituitary gland and again in May 2019 the tumor returned.

After all of that, Jason is now facing dialysis and another kidney transplant due to no fault of his own. It was a dosage error from his Nephrologist. He just can’t catch a break.

I'm hoping one day he will read these journal entries and it will encourage him and help him  see how much he has overcome. I pray that he finds strength in times that he feels  defeated. Maybe in the process he can help someone else who may find themselves struggling or needing encouragement.

I appreciate all of you that have been there for us and continue to keep Jason in your prayers.

Journal entry by Angela Flanary

Last night was a little rough. They placed the PICC line and started his infusions. Jason had a reaction to one of the IV meds and caused his BP to spike to 208/110 with chest pains, VERY drowsy and somewhat disoriented. His second infusion will be later this evening… please pray for him  🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼

- Hemoglobin continues to drop so he needed another pint of blood today to try to keep him above 7. He’s currently at 6.7.  They are very concerned that he has internal bleeding that is causing his hemoglobin to drop like it has been.  Unfortunately his numbers are not stable enough for him to go in for the Colonoscopy and EGD so we have to wait…

- Glucose has been over 200 at times because of the amount of steroids he’s taking.

- Creatinine continues to drop, which is wonderful and what we want, but they’re concerned with how long it’s taking to drop.  It was 8.8 this morning.

Amanda dropped Lovie off on her way to work, so we were all able to hang out together ♥️ Very much needed!! I think it made everyone’s heart a little happier ♥️  Lovie and I are coming back with munchies tomorrow to watch the game with Bub and PAPAW IS COMING TO VISIT 🥰♥️ It will definitely be a good day!!

We love you and appreciate you all 🤟🏼 ♥️
