Journal entry by Melissa Krause —
A brief update, filled with gratitude -
Yesterday (8/21) Jason met with his neuro-oncologist Dr. Connelly. She gave us good news - his scans are stable and he has successfully completed his entire course of treatment. Jason is officially in "surveillance." Phase I included chemo and radiation, Phase II was 12 months of chemo. It's been a long road, (and we can hardly believe we made it some days!), but we are so humbly grateful.
As for our plans - we are very excited to enjoy this fall with a dad who feels normal again. It's nice to see Jason have the energy to do things - don't ever take for granted the energy to trim tree branches, dig up stumps or move refrigerators. (That was his weekend, and I know he was so happy to do it.) ;). Jason's next year will include scans and bloodwork every 3 months. That will slowly move to 4 months, then 6, ultimately landing at annual rechecks.
We want to thank all of our close friends and family who carried us through these past 16 months. We will never forget the kindness and love that we we experienced. The caring words and check-ins will NEVER be forgotten. We have been so blessed by you.
