Jan’s Story

Site created on October 29, 2018

Earlier this year Jan was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis which is requiring her to have a stem cell transplant. This process will require a hospital stay of several weeks and then she must remain within a few miles of the hospital for an additional stay. Her release to return home will depend upon how her body responds to the treatment and her blood counts rise to an acceptable level.. This site is set up to keep friends and family updated on her journey. We covet your prayers for Jan and Lee as they travel this long road ahead.

Journal entry by Sandra Deakins

Today is 100 days post transplant for Jan. This is a milestone because at this point her immune system should be near normal. This allows her to begin going out in public! To all of us who love her so much and can’t wait to see her, we need to use caution that we keep a healthy distance especially if we are fighting off any germs. Her stamina is still low and it can take many more months before her strength returns to normal but she is moving in the right direction! Thank you all for your prayer support through this journey thus far!
