Jan’s Story

Site created on July 26, 2017

We first used this site to keep family and friends after her diagnosis of adenocarcinoma (esophageal cancer). Now it’s a place we come to reflect, grieve, and honor her.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lori Kun

It arrives via zoom
on screen with researchers
across the sea
who know the worst part
of losing someone
is when hope dwindles
and you prep for end of life
sure, peace settles in the heart
but the mind races, what can be done?
today, with time,
science explains some of the why
things stopped working
(a university bell
is ringing in the background)
and there are tears
but also a bright light
for others walking
this path

(Quite compelling when my work and life intersects,  excited to learn of progress and future efforts for adenocarcinoma)
