Janine’s Story

Site created on November 13, 2018

October 18, 2018 I went for my yearly mammogram.  On October 19, 2018, I was advised the results of my mammogram showed an area of suspicious cells.  Therefore, I had a biopsy of the cells and it was determined through pathology results that I have breast cancer.  My cancer is Estrogen (positive), Progesterone (positive), and HER2 (positive).  I now realize that science and trials results play a huge part in a cancer plan of attack.  Based on my pathology results, my plan of attack is to begin with chemo treatments  - 6 rounds every three weeks to start.  Let the journey begin.

First Day of Chemo
8 AM today I started my first chemo treatment at the Cleveland Clinic Twinsburg facility.  This a beautiful facility and all the staff are top notch - personnel, smart, and attentive to my every need.  My sister, Jennifer, has been my sidekick beginning with day one.  I have received many words of encouragement and prayers and feel so blessed to have so many caring people in my life.  I was very scared to begin chemo today...am I going to get sick, is it going hurt, when will I loose my hair...so many what ifs and what is going to happen.  I am slowly learning that I cannot control a lot of what is happening right now to my body.  But plan to stay strong, be a fighter, pray, sing and just be happy and enjoy the small things.  Today has been a very good day.
